01. 청년은 강제로 집시
청년은 가난하다. 그리고 우린 청년이다. 그래서 이집 저집 이사를 다닌다. 이 좁은 집구석에서 성주굿을 해서 성주신을 부른다면, 성주신이 내려와서는 발 디딜 곳 하나 없을 것만 같았다. ‘차라리 우리가 훨씬 더 오래전에 살았더라면 나무라도 베어서 집을 짓고 살았을 텐데’하는 생각도 든다.

02. 남성훈과 소크라테스
기원전 470년, 소크라테스는 광장의 사람을 붙잡고 토론을 시작해 끊임없이 질문을 쏟아내어 결국 그 자신이 아무것도 모르고 있다는 사실을 인정하게 만들곤 했다. 만일 소크라테스가 남성훈을 만나봤다면 이렇게 말했을 것이다. “저 자는 현명하다. 적어도 자신이 모른다는 것은 알고 있지 않은가?”

03. 각자의 율동
상자루의 세 멤버는 각자의 순례길 속에서 각자의 전통음악, 각자의 율동을 깨달은 것 같다. 그리고 우리 세 명은 각각 다른 길을 걸었고 다른 길 위에 놓여 있음을 새삼스럽지만 확실히 깨닫는다. 상자루도 여느 생명체가 그러하듯 생존과 적응과 진화를 택했다. 우리는 머리가 세 개 달린 멍멍이 케르베로스로 진화하길 택했다. 상자루가 세 개의 머리를 달고 변화무쌍한 음악을 하기를 기대했다. 세 개의 율동이 합쳐지며 만들어내는 상자루의 율동.

04. 태평가 (太平歌)
가곡 태평가를 바탕으로 편곡했다. 이 노래는 어떤 게으른 조상님이 대청마루에 누워서 천장을 보며 게으름에 대한 세레나데를 한 것이리라 상상해 본다. 우리 선조들도 나와 같이 게으름의 미학을 중요시했던 것이리라.

01. The Young Are Inevitably Gipsy
The young are poor; we are young men. We roam around from house to house. In this tiny little house, there must not be enough place for Seongju(Household Guarding Deity) even though we call him out with Gut(Korean Shamanistic rites). Sometimes we think: if we were young men living a long time ago, we would make a hut of our own by chopping down the trunks and weeds.

02. Seonghun and Socrates
B.C. 470, Socrates occasionally bumped into the debate with any passerby in the agora. By pour-ing endless questions, he made any contenders give in to the fact that the person knows nothing. Should he bump into Seonghun, he might say, ‘Wit man thou art! For thou knowest thy unwit.’

03. Rhythm of Each
The three members of Sangjaru seem to realize each one of their traditional music and dancing. We admitted that we walked through and now are standing on different paths. Like other crea-tures, Sangjaru chose to survive, adapt, and evolve; we decided to become a doggo Cerberus. With three heads on one body, we expected to create capricious music and choreography of our own from three separate rhythm.

04. Song of Peace
The song was arranged based on traditional song ‘A Song of Peace.’
We imagined that this song was originated from a lazy ancestor lying on the floor singing a sere-nade of laziness. Our ancestors, like us, must have put a great emphasize on the aesthetics of lazi-ness.
